We would invite readers to send in their favourite story about their dog. It doesn't have to be a dog that you bought from us. If you have a funny story or even a poignant memory of your pet that you would like to share with us, please send it in . We are looking forward to reading all the stories and finding out more about our readers through their pets. Please feel free to include a photo and we will add it with your story . All photos and stories can be sent to us here at : Snips & Snails & Puppy Dog Tales .
| I had taken a picture of Trinity a few weeks back because she was staring into the air so intently. This is what the picture showed. I know it's not a puff of smoke because I don't smoke in the house. Occasionally I do, but only in the kitchen. The funny looking smoke is in the living room. So ... Trinity, Patches, Brad, Me, the kids and our ghost are all doing fine. I have since taken several more pictures when Trinity seems to be staring intently and have found numerous "Orbs" in my pictures. The one picture even contained what you thought appeared to be a young child standing on my stairs. My ghost also leaves me dimes..... he is cheap , I knew someone else who found quarters all the time . ..

I know that we had asked for readers to submit their stories, but this is a puppy tale that we would like to share with our readers.
Just shortly after we had moved in here, Artie & I were out walking in the woods on our property ( we have 12 1/2 acres). We had headed back towards the house, as it was getting close to the time that Cody would arrive home from school. As we neared the house, we could hear Cody's voice trembling and saying " Hold still while I put your leashes on . We have to find them. They must be lost" .
We came into the clearing and there was Cody, with all three of our dogs ( at the time ) and she had leashes on all of them and was organizing a search party to come and find us. Well it was both poignant and funny at the same time , to think that she was worried enough to come looking and be our rescuer at the tender age of 9, and yet funny, to see her with three dogs on leashes and they were all excited and tangling around her.
After she was done reprimanding us for not leaving her a note, and didn't we realize what time it was and that she was going to be home and everything in the house looked normal except that we weren't there and then her crying and sobbing so hard because we were ok , well we made her a promise not to do it again and yes we would leave a note and always try to be in the house or out where she could see us when she got home . I think that was the closest I ever came to getting grounded in my entire life and by a 9 yr. old , no less ....

Tribute to Taylor
May 26, 2005
This is a tribute to my first dog. Today is the 5th anniversary of his death. His name was Taylor and he was a yellow lab. I didn't think that I could ever find a dog to fill the empty gap left after Taylor died but now having Skye in my life and watching her grow makes me feel like the emptieness to starting to fade. I want to thank Patti, Artie and Cody for introducing me to their beautiful collies and hopefully my new best friend. So far she has been just a pleasure to be around and watch her grow. We are really starting to bond, just as a mother does with a new child, I couldn't take her with me to school the last couple mornings and when I got home, I was told that she was just so upset that I left her, she ran around the house looking and even sat staring up the stairs. As for Taylor, we will meet again at Rainbow Bridge.
Take care. Wendy

This isn't the greatest picture, but a story goes along with it so I had to send it. Last night the girls and I were watching a movie(or should I say TRYING TO). . .Caitlyn was sitting in this chair - BIG MISTAKE!!!! Iniki went into a corner and howled and howled (she thinks it's her chair)and would not stop until Caitlyn got out. Next, didn't Iniki howl some more until we gave her a pillow. She is totally high maintenance and obviously runs the show around here!! I can't thank you enough for such a wonderful addition to our family!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Keep well, Lisa |
Life with a Puppy
I was just reading the doggie diaries and the troubles Opal has been causing when I realized how much Skye has been acting like her recently. Today in a short period of time, she stole a water plant from from my pond and ripped it up and then got a hold of a empty water bottle and pretty much destroyed it, then went on to disturb the area that I had just reseeded in the back yard. I couldn't believe how happy she looked when I looked out to see what she was up to. Another thing she likes to do is find kleenex and tear it to shreds. Normally she is so well behaved and we don't usually have to watch her when she is outside. It feels like I have a two year old once again in the house. But I will enjoy every minute of it while it lasts. Life is too short.

Life with My Puppy
I just had to tell you what Skye has done now. This one takes the cake by far. My husband used to do flooring and needed a special type of powder chalk to make his lines for laying tile. Anyways all summer this chalk in a small bottle was in my shed in a bucket with other tools, Steve said it's been there all this time. So last night she was out playing with her frizbee, or so I thought, when I went to get her to go for a walk. I couldn't believe my eyes, she came running through my rose arbor which is about 50 feet from the house, the backyard is approximately 150 feet long, so anyways there she is running through with something in her mouth. My first reaction was terror, because I thought she was bleeding, the chalk was a reddish/orange. Then I realized it wasn't blood, but I couldn't understand what it could be until I got the bottle (or what was left of the bottle) away from her. Well her front legs and her face were almost covered. She doesn't seem to be affected my this incident at all. It has made for conversation to say the least when out walking with her. I haven't had time to wash this off but it seems to be fading quickly and I think she has been cleaning herself. Today with the kids gone most of the day helped in keeping her a little more calm. Take care.

Gilligan's A Vegetarian !
Hi Artie! Hi Patti!
I read in a magazine that frozen carrots were good for teething puppies. So I have been giving them to Gilligan ever since he's been home. A couple of days ago I was cooking a stir fry. A raw cauliflower fell and Gilligan ate it. He likes cauliflower! Then, two days ago, I was eating an apple. Gilligan was sitting beside me barking like crazy. So I gave him a bit of apple. He loved it. Yesterday when I was eating an apple I had to take out two - one for me and one for him. Of course his gets cut up into pieces (no core for this puppy!).
Thought it made for a funny story. . . my dog the vegetarian!
Take care,
Lynn
