Hi all,

well Chip and Crosby are doing wonderful.  Crosby is really giving Chip a run for his money.  Chip is so gentle it is incredible.  Thank you for allowing us to honor of having them be part of our family. pics to follow.

Hi Patti, Artie and Cody!

How are things with all of you?  Hope everything is well.  Things here have calmed down a bit since we
sold our house.  Now we don't have to keep everything so clean and neat, and pack up the dogs and leave
when we have a showing.  And now we get to prepare for our move in October.

About a week ago we just got back from a trip to PA to visit my relatives.  It was Bonny's first big, long
trip to the USA.  She travelled the 10 hours well with only 1 potty break.  She loved exploring the rest
area where all the other doggies were.  Bonny has become quite the explorer.  No matter where she
goes, she loves checking everything out.  While we were in PA, the 4 of us visited my friend who has
4 small dogs.  After all the dogs greeted each other, Bonny was quite content exploring the big yard.
Sassy, on the other hand, wouldn't leave our sides.

We stayed at my brother's house, where the girls had to stay in their crates overnight in a cooler
basement area.  The girls also learned how to do stairs, which was quite the spectacle.  Bonny thinks
she needs a running jump to get up a flight of stairs.  I swear she still thinks she is smaller than Sassy.
After a few days of up and down the stairs, both girls would follow me without the use of treats.   So now
when we move to our new 2-story house in October, the girls will already know how to do the stairs  :-)

My brother, while not much of a dog person, but who has a sheltie (smaller than Sassy), was quite taken
with Bonny.  He couldn't get over how much of a good dog she was.  While Sassy and Broadway (the male
sheltie) would bark at everything, Bonny would stay quiet and mind her own business.  My brother was
constantly petting Bonny and praising her, telling her she was such a good dog.   We also visited my brother's
father-in-law, who immediately fell in love with Bonny after he asked for a kiss and she gave it to him without
hesitation!  Sassy wouldn't go near him even though she has been there several times before.

Bonny really has turned into such a lovely dog, inside and out.  You only have to tell her something once for her
to listen, Sassy needs several times, lol.   Bonny adapts fast to any situation.  While our house was for sale, we
had to constantly load up the girls in their crates in the car for an hour away.  Bonny loved the new routine.  We
often went down to the Rouge Beach Marsh area close to our house.  While Sassy had to be coaxed out of her
crate becasue it was a new area, Bonny loved exploring the marsh.  Everyone we met on our walks there loved
Bonny!.  She is the friendliest dog either one of us has had.  And we both said when we are ready for another dog,
it will definitely be another Codybear Collie!

I am attaching a picture of Bonny and Walt on one of their exploration of the Rouge Marsh.

Take care!

Hi Patti, Artie and Cody

Well the trip home was a good one, long but had no issues.  Checkers was a doll the whole trip.  He pretty much didn’t leave Victoria’s lap.  Our predictions of Wrangler being his best friend were off base.  Wrangler seems to be more jealous of him and does his barking when we are giving Checkers attention instead of him.  In spite of this Checkers was laying on the bed with us last night right in between Wrangler and Sable.  I have included pictures.  Way too cute!

Patch is just plain scared of the little guy and runs whenever he comes close to him.  It looks like Sable is the most interested in him and follows him around with her tail wagging.  This surprised us all.  So I think the theory of dogs knowing their parents scent is true.  Sable and Patch went crazy sniffing me when we got home.  I think they knew it was their mom’s scent but again just a theory.

This morning I brought Checkers out and he went potty right away then came back inside to eat and have some water.  He has made himself completely at home motoring around the house checking everything out.  He even jumped up on the living room couch yesterday J

Well that is the update so far.  I am sure I will more within the next couple of weeks.

Thank you for your hospitality as always it was a real pleasure.  Have a great day.

Hello Patti, Artie & Cody

Hope you are all enjoying your Summer so far, because we certainly are with our new baby..  She has become a very special part of the family as well as on the hole entire street. Everyone she meets falls in love with her, because she is soooo friendly..  We have already taught her to stay, sit, come, give a paw, ring the pee pee bell, come off treats held at her nose, and down. She really loves the river. I'm not sure if she will actually swim, but she loves to wade in the shore and look for rocks, minnows.. We are still working on getting her to stop biting at our legs, but the tips you gave really do help, and she does understand that it is a big no no.

Malcolm starts a basic training class with her on Sunday, and will go for eight weeks. Even though she knows how to do most of the things they will teach her, Malcolm will really get to know how to handle her with other dogs and people..  We hope to enroll her in agility training when she's older so this will be a good start..  She such a smart little cookie.  We couldn't be any happier..

Thank you so much. We will send more pictures soon.

Hi Patti,

My apologies for not replying sooner. I just received your email now.  I hadn't opened my email for the past 2 weeks....too many other things to do!

Frosty is now named Oscar. When we got home Leigh's brothers eyes lit up when they saw him. This was soon followed by a conference amongst the brothers on names and "Oscar" was it!

Oscar is a wonderful puppy, very smart and growing. He only cried for about 2 minutes the first two nights and that was all. He has settled in amazingly. He is now pretty much house broken and last night he even scatched at the door to let us know he wanted out.

The cat is taking a littel longer to get used to him, but he is definitely coming around. Everyone adores 'Oscar" he has a sweet disposition but can be frisky and curious too! Leigh certainly made a good choice!!! He still plays with his purple chew toy that he wrestled with his littermates.

Oscar ( aka Frosty aka Derek)  is still the "best puppy in the world".

We will send you some pictures of him soon.

with our kindest regards,

Mary Ellen and Leigh

Hello Patti, Artie & Cody,   We had a very pleasant drive home. Charmayne was no trouble at all. She played and slept all the way home where she was greeted and welcomed by her three new friends Polly (golden retriever) and Eddy (some kind of hound) And of course her oldest friend Angie (collie/shepherd mix) Who very kindly cleaned Charmaynes ears for her when they met. We then ventured across the street to the river. You are not going to believe this but, she loved it there, you should have seen her face lol.. She played in the shore line for a little while then we came home to play some more with the three other dogs.. All my neighbors watched in disbelief of how calm she was, and figured it was all because she was most likely well cared for and loved. To witch Burt & I confirmed..  Thank you for such a wonderful little puppy. We love her very much. She has made our house complete again..  This morning we are very tired because Carmayne cried for her brothers from 10:30 - 3:30am non stop, but we had expected that.  Tonight will hopefully be a little better and so on for the next few days.

I will get Burt to send you some pictures soon.  He is the one who knows how to make the pictures small enough for sending via dial up

Thanks again,

Burt, Karen & Malcolm

Hi Patti,

I trust that all is well at "Codybear Collies."

I wanted to tell you how happy we are with Dollie, she is a true pleasure to have, very smart & affectionate too.  Everyone in the family (& neighborhood) just loves her.

Leah's sorrow about not taking home her favorite puppy, Tear Drop, diminished almost as soon as we finished driving down your driveway!  Their friendship has deepened with every new day and the two of them are practically inseparable!

Thank you very much for your patience and help with us last Friday to choose the best dog ever.

  Very best wishes,

  Sandra

Hi Patti, Artie & Cody,

How are you guys doing?

Hope everyone doing great!

Weather is getting nicer and nicer each day, I' m sure the dogs can enjoy more outside activities.

First of all, congratulation on the new litter of puppies, I can't wait to see their photos.

Sage is doing fine and she is growing more maturely, both physical and mental. Here are some of her photos that my friend took for her, he is not a professional photographer but take photo is his hobby. The photos are beautiful.  (due to each photo use huge MB, I need to send it by several emails).

  Enjoy it.

  Take care!

Hello Patti,

Funny I was going to email you this week.  Gilligan was in two trials last week.  We have completed our advanced standard.  We are now in the maters standard class - and, have already achieved our first Q.  We are one Q away from achieving our advanced jumpers title.  We are continuing to work on getting our advanced snooker and gambler.  Those seem to be harder for us to accomplish.

We are hoping to go Middlesex Agility Trial in June .  We are hoping to finish our advanced jumpers there and keep working on our Qs in the other events.

Hi Patti.

I just thought I would send you some pictures of Swiper that I finally downloaded onto the computer.  Some of them are when we were temporarally living with my parents as we moved from our house in November but the one we bought wasn't ready until Feb.  You can see Swiper on a hill of snow which the girls named "poop mountain" as she would only go to the bathroom there.  In a few you will see how Swiper and my parents dog, Digby were getting close.  They became good friends while we were there.  Swiper also thinks she is a lap dog and can jump on the couch with us like Digby did.

Swiper is doing really well and continues to guard her girls fiercely.  She is so gentle but heaven help anyone who will try to harm her girls.  She is also protective of us adults as I fell down my stairs a week ago and I had hurt myself.  Scott came running up the basement stairs yelling (not in a mean way) "What did you do?" and Swiper beat him over to me and pretty much sat on me and wouldn't let Scott near me.  It was so funny that I quickly forgot about the pain I was in.  She also knows what time of day the girls are due home.  Scott and I come home at lunch or throughout the day without the girls and she does not whine.  However if we come home with the van at 5pm and don't have the girls with us, she will run around the van whining.  At night time, Swiper has claimed the end of Raija's bed which in one of the pictures you will see Swiper, Scott and Raija all squished together.  She continues to love her walks and you cannot even take her leash out or make any noise with it until you are ready to actually leave the house with her.  She will bark and dance until you go outside with her.  Everyone also gets a kick out of how she will talk to us.  One day when my dad was over she was talking for a good 5 minutes and she just wouldn't stop.  The more we laughed, the more she talked.

Anyway, I hope all is going well with you, Cody and Artie as well as you large family of dogs and new puppies.  I can't wait to see how they look.

Take care.

  Marnie.

Hi Patti, Artie and Cody:

It has been a long time since I have written and thought I would say hello.  Wrangler, Sable and Patch are all doing very well and enjoying being able to roll in the grass again.  I am pleased to see that you finally have an upcoming litter and I am anxious to see them when they arrive.

I was wondering if you plan on breeding Sneaker again?  In December we had to put our oldest dog, Buddy, to sleep and things have been quite different with the pack since then.  Sable has taken the lead and seems to direct everyone.  I am interested in getting another pup from Sneaker as her temperament is amazing.  Wrangler is a prime example of what a fabulous specimen that she can produce.  Wrangler continues to be the most amazing dog I have ever owned.  He is sensitive, great with kids & other dogs and doesn’t leave our sides.  He particularly loves to cuddle on the bed as his favorite past time.

Sable we call the Velcro dog, her fur is so thick she is twice the size and tends to bring every stick, twig, leaf and burr into the house with her every time she is outside.   Patch has turned out to be a very sweet and most enjoyable.  Patch is the most talkative, he speaks very well and the most funny thing is he tends to burp like a human but he has to make sure you are saying hello so he does it right in your face.  I have some updated pictures that I will send along soon.  I want to make sure they are small enough so you don’t have any issues with downloading them.

I sincerely hope all is well with your family and the dogs. I hope to hear back from you soon.

All the best,

Trina, Mike, Victoria, Casper, Wrangler, Sable & Patch

Hi Patti

The dog dancing video was amazing and cute! Any trick is difficult to teach Koda as he gets frustrated if he doesnt know what we want of him lol But as soon as he understands, he does it on command everytime!

Last night Koda did exceptional in his class! He was top of his class and finished with a 99%. we are planning on enrolling him in level three obediance which starts right after march break. He was more behaved on exam night than any other night, probably because i took him on the longest walk before it.

 Take care!

Hello!

Just a quick update to let you know how Frosty is doing.

We have started obedience with him and his confidence is so much better. He’s a smart guy and picks up on thing quickly.

We are now going for two to three hour long walks everyday and as soon as he sees me getting the leash he starts bouncing around. He LOVES his walks.

We have been taking him every Sunday to a fenced off leash park where Frosty still won’t want to leave after an hour and a half. LOL Even though his tongue is halfway to the ground.

So things are good and we really love him.

Hope you guys are doing well!

Cheers,

Shelley

HI guys!   Congratulations on your new litter of puppies!  I am sure they are adorable and beautiful.  Yes, of course I considered a puppy for a companion for Panda, but then of course reality set in!  I hope you are all well and enjoying yourselves.

I just thought I'd let you know if you are interested Panda and I have been confirmed in the June 20th Good Neighbour Test.  I realize it is far  and you probably won't be able to come, but you are welcome.  Panda is doing well and is still a squirrel fanatic.  It is the one time she will run into a mud puddle and not notice, if she is chasing a squirrel.  Otherwise she will find her way around it- hence a new nickname-Princess Panda!!    She has recently developed a love of duck chasing!  She will not go in the water, but runs along the side of the river hoping they will fly.  If they are sitting on the grass, she has a playday, chasing them away as fast as she can.  Maybe she has Labrador retriever in her!!  No, not possible, she hates chasing balls.

Anyway, take care and I will let you know how June 20th goes.  Hopefully we can pass all the tasks, but I am unsure whether Panda will be thrilled to let a stranger run a brush over (although she is no problem at the groomer) or let a stranger touch her paws!  Oh well, it will be fun and I will get a professional photo for both me and send one to you.  Take care and don't work too hard.  Enjoy the pups!

Hello Patti!  Hello Artie!

Gilligan and I have completed another trial.  We are competing at a more advanced level.  Gilligan performed very well – it’s just a shame he has such an inexperienced handler.  I get a lot of people approaching me impressed by how eager Gilligan is.  One woman – not ready yet – but was asking about the breeder and she is thinking of getting a rough collie rather than a border collie for her next agility dog.   Gilligan gets so excited when he gets his chance to go.  He barks the entire time he is waiting.  Then when he gets in the ring he is all focus.  It is very impressive to see.  An experienced handler was very impressed by Gilligan’s level of obedience.  He thought that would be very important for our future success.  I was very pleased with the weekend overall.  Although we didn’t get many q’s considering that we took the month of December off Gilligan performed very well.  We got a q in advanced team relay.  A first in steeplechase, standard, and a third in jumpers.

I’m looking at purchasing a Honda Pilot later this year or early next year.  Keep that in mind.  If I can get an appropriate vehicle Rick is more inclined to permit me a second puppy.  I’m looking to get a second agility dog.  One as eager and playful as Gilligan.  One that loves to play tug.

I checked your site and thanks so much for announcing Frosty's new adventure. I am so excited to meet him on the 30th. I am already having a hard time sleeping :) You have been sooo wonderful I cannot thank you enough. You have taken the time to chat on the phone, answer e-mails and make sure this is the right fit. I feel bad subjecting Frosty to a plane ride but I think it is worth it to get such a quality dog and a wonderful breeder who cares so much for her dogs.

In a few years when our lovely girl goes to heaven to  be with our other collie Kane we will be coming to you for another pup. You have us for life now.

I will send you beautiful pics of your handsome boy as I always need someone to practice on!

Again I hope anyone who reads this should realize that this a breeder who truly cares for her dogs and I would HIGHLY recommend Codybear Collies to anyone.

Talk to you soon,

Shelley , Jeff, Echo and soon to be Frosty

Patti, right after I read your story about the floor register getting
caught by the dog tags. I heard some clanging while I was in bed. I
looked over the side of the bed and there was Toby with a register
hanging around his neck.

I decided to keep the collars off around the house. That way they are
comfortable and no accidents. I just put them on when we go for a walk.

Pauline
